Oskaloosa Residents Wade Through A Slushy Saturday

This skid-steer was quickly scraping away all the slush that was mixing up in the Hy-Vee parking lot. The standing water had made small ponds of water that made it difficult for pedestrian traffic to navigate

Oskaloosa, Iowa – With the Super Bowl just one day away, Oskaloosa residents slogged around parking lot lakes of slush and brown water to venture into places like Penn Central Mall to sign youngsters up for a whole variety of spring and summer sports.

Those who were ready with waterproof boots were rewarded with dry socks once they returned home; others, such as myself, are still attempting to dry their shoes out.

Oskaloosa officially got just over 2 inches of snow, with portions going on 3 inches, but it was a very wet snow that created huge flakes.

“It’s snowing snowballs” was the response from someone in the crowd when asked about the weather.

Weather on Sunday for the big game is going to be foggy, with high temps reaching near 40 degrees. Monday, according to the NWS, is going to be 42 and sunny, which should help get the slushy drains even further cleared up of the mess and get us one step nearer to cleaning up from possibly the largest snow event of the winter… so far.
