Update On Second Full Day Of VanWeelden Trial

Mahaska-County-Courthouse

The trial of Mahaska County Supervisor Willie VanWeelden is in it’s third day; second full day of testimony. The State called Thomas O’Brien to the stand.

O’Brien worked for Auxiant during the time in question as an administrator for the counties health insurance plan.

In an often times very mundane proceeding, there are moments where both the prosecution and defense are able to make striking contrasts over the interpretation of the same document.

During testimony, clarification on newly elected versus re-elected has been a focal point in this case.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
