Finishing Touches Continue On Downtown Window Display

The mid day sun pours into the newly decorated windows at Hawkeye Real Estate

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Window decorating brings back thoughts of a past era when stores would attempt to out do one another in order to attract consumers.

New York department stores are famous for their varied displays that are, in themselves, a tourist attraction with their own web pages.

Hawkeye Real Estate is hoping to bring a new spark to their windows and in turn the downtown square.

Tara Rozenboom literally took the project and ran with it. She got the call on Monday morning and by mid-week paper was up in the windows and themes were being developed.

“In my mind I set up rooms”, as Tara pointed towards the window with the fireplace and a chair. “In my mind, I wanted to connect with the different kinds of customers.” “The goal was to create room scenes and themes”, with hope of making the displays feel comfortable like being at home.

Chris Roach, broker with Hawkeye Real estate, said last year was a good year for the company, “I love it so far” was his thoughts on the updates.

“Contrary to what national media is always putting out there, Oskaloosa housing market is doing well”, Roach said about the rebounding housing market that has now stretched nearly 2 years. “Slowly, but we’ve seen continued improvement.”

Rozenboom has been a designer, and has been in Oskaloosa for 4 years. Homes are Rozenboom’s primary clients, but she also designs and helps out businesses; like she is doing with Hawkeye Real Estate.
