Oskaloosa City Council Nearly Breaks Record For Shortest Meeting
Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Oskaloosa City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening in the City Council Chambers. The first item on the agenda was public comments. Stacie Raymie representing Relay for Life spoke to the Council during public comments. Raymie, who is the event chair this year, said that she was asking for City Officials to “promote and support this event.” Raymie informed the Council that she would be submitting a request form to reserve the square for Relay for Life on June 2nd, 2012 from noon to midnight. “A new day, a new time. No more overnight event,” Raymie said.
The Council also heard the annual MCRF Report from Sherry Vavra. During her report, Vavra noted that the Construction of the Skate Park is moving along quickly. Vavra said that they expect that the park will be open around Early Spring. Vavra also noted that volunteer hours were up by 25% for the last year.
The Council also unanimously approved the 2012 Oskaloosa Chamber Calendar of Events. The last item on the agenda for the Council was the approval of the appointment of Larry Lewis to the Oskaloosa Airport Commission. The Council unanimously approved Lewis’s appointment.
The next meeting of the Oskaloosa City Council will be on February 6th at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers.
