Visitation: will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, January 03, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, January 04, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
Interment: Cremation will follow the service and private burial of her ashes will be at a later date in Forest Cemetery.
Tammy died peacefully with her family at her side Saturday evening at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Tammy Jo Lynch, daughter of Willis “Willie” Edwin and Rachael Louise Weston Wells, was born June 6, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa. The family moved to Oskaloosa when Tammy was a young child. Tammy’s began her first job at age 12 at Stapp’s Drug, where she served coffee; she later detasseled corn and worked at the A & W Root Beer Stand. She was a 1979 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and continued her education at Graceland College in Lamoni. She was united in marriage to Patrick Lynch December 11, 1982 in Albia. They made their home in Albia, and to this union three children were born. Tammy resumed her education at William Penn College and in 1994 she graduated with a degree in Secondary Education in English and Spanish. She taught Spanish in Chariton, at Cardinal of Eldon, at North Mahaska and later worked as a facilitator at the Indian Hills Center at William Penn University. Tammy also did substitute teaching in recent years. Tammy moved to Oskaloosa in 2001.
Tammy’s children were the most important thing in Tammy’s life and she cherished the time she spent with them. She was recently looking forward to the birth of twin grandchildren. Tammy had a wonderful sense of humor; she enjoyed practical jokes which she did in a kind-hearted way. She loved playing the piano and singing, she enjoyed karaoke and was known to frequently burst into song. Tammy enjoyed communicating on Facebook and by email and loved to post quotations for her family and friends. Tammy also loved photography; her photos will help her family remember her affection for them.
Tammy’s family includes her children: Stephanie Smith (Ben Roth) of Cedar Falls, Nicolas (Jenni) Lynch of Oskaloosa and Isabel Lynch of Oskaloosa; two grandsons: Barrett and Carter; her mother, Rachael Wells of Oskaloosa; and three brothers: Kevin Wells of Ashville, NC; Robert Wells and Michael Wells of Oskaloosa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. In addition to her father, Tammy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Jiggs and Louise Weston.
