Projected Winners Named In Municipal Runoff Elections

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Area residents once again headed to the polls Tuesday to decide the remaining city council seats in three local communities.

Four persons were on the ballot in the runoff election in Beacon for the two remaining city council seats. The projected winners are (vote totals in parentheses) Ron Ferree (21) and Jim Hughes (18) over Darrell Rust (12) and Derek Sellars (15).

Rose Hill was filling one council position during their runoff election. Mike Hicklin (14) was announced as the projected winner over Crystal Mullins (3).

In the tightest vote of the evening, University Park was looking to fill its final council seat. Arlen Phillips (22) is projected to narrowly defeat Write-In Candidate Colleen Platt (21). Also getting votes were Zac Samuels (3), Write-In candidate Alwyn Hall (1) and Write-In candidate Jim Hall (1).

The vote will be canvased on December 12th at 10 am in the 3rd floor conference room. December 15th will be the final day any candidate involved with the runoff can request a recount.
