Maysen Brunt shortly after being announced as Ambassador for this years Lighted Christmas Parade

Oskaloosa, Iowa-  The 2011 Young Ambassador crowning took place Monday evening to a large crowd in the Penn Central Mall. The Young Ambassador Contest is in its 20th year. This year’s Young Ambassador crowning was again hosted by Steve Shettler of KBOE Radio. This year, 25 kids participated in the contests. Canisters for each child were placed at different business sponsors around town where people were allowed to vote by monetary donations. All of the money collected from the event will be donated to the Oskaloosa Elementary Preschool, a scholarship, and to help defray costs of the Lighted Christmas Parade. Nearly $3,000 was raised in this year’s contest.

This years contestants (ages 3 thru kindergarten). Those participating in addition to Maysen Brunt and Nicolas Ramos are Alyssa Cooley, Amari Trujillo, Brooklyn Roberts, Elyse Lamb, Emilly Hacker, Emma Whitt, Gentrie Sarver, Kierra Bunnell, Libby Fenton, Madison Chamberlin, Makenzi Meyers, Rayalin Russell, Taylor Doty, Vivian Bolibaugh, Cameron Pierson, Carter Koffman, Henry Bru, Ivan Montgomery, JaShaden Baker, Jaycob Pena, Liam Thomas, Parker Lewis, and Reyon Turner.
