Skate Park Moves Forward in Oskaloosa

Work is well underway at Oskaloosa's new skate park (photo submitted)

Curved Taco, Bent Penny, Tilted Platform…these are just a few of the new equipment pieces that arrived at the Oskaloosa Skate Park construction site on Monday!

The pre-cast pieces for the skate park have now been placed on the concrete footings and they look amazing! The next steps will be to shotcrete around all the pieces, pour the concrete base around the pre-cast, pour the brown trim concrete frame around the edges, then let all cure for the recommended time. After that any last minute additions will be completed. We are looking at several weeks yet but we are SO CLOSE!!!!

We invite all to go by and take a look at the progress but also remind everyone that all steps must be completed before equipment can safely be used. We have worked hard to make this project possible and want to insure that a safe opening and long term park are in place. The MCRF Skate Park Committee, which includes community leaders and youth participants in the sport, has worked diligently from the beginning and are very pleased to see it near completion. There will be a planned grand opening with this committee when complete.
