William Penn Soccer Squads Have A Tough Day At Home
42 Seconds of Misery Leads to 2-0 Loss to Mustangs
Oskaloosa–If only the William Penn men’s soccer team could go back in time and play over the 57th and 58th minutes of Saturday night’s game against Mount Mercy. Unfortunately, there is no such time machine and the Statesmen are left pondering a 2-0 loss to the Mustangs in their Midwest Collegiate Conference opener.
The Statesmen (1-4-1, 0-1 MCC) were outshot 18-9, but played even except for a rough patch that started at the 56:57 mark and ended just 42 seconds later at 57:39. At the conclusion of the mess, the hosts trailed 2-0 and Mount Mercy (3-4-1, 1-0 MCC) held on from there.
Mark Dryden (So., Arbroath, Scotland, Arbroath HS) paced the navy and gold with five shots (two on goal), while Sam Gurski (So., Beaumont, Texas, West Brook HS) collected eight saves.
