Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday morning, September 10, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
Interment: Forest Cemetery, Garden of Serenity
Wilma died Wednesday at Crystal Heights Care Center following a long illness.
Wilma Mae Hardlein, daughter of Jacob A. and Edna L. Adkins Anderson, was born October 1, 1923 on a farm northeast of Keota, Iowa. She attended Tallman country school near Keota and graduated from eighth grade in Washington, Iowa; she finished her education at Keota High School with the class of 1941. December 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Raymond “Bud” Hardlein in Lancaster, MO. Wilma and Bud started their life together while Bud was in the Air Force and Wilma traveled with him to the places he was stationed. Following his discharge, they returned to the Sigourney/Keota area and Wilma was employed by the Keokuk County Treasurer’s office. A year later they bought the Sigourney Tastee Freeze, which she ran for three years. Wilma then was employed by Keokuk County Farm Bureau Insurance Company; she worked there for 17 years. In 1976, Wilma and Bud moved to Oskaloosa and Wilma was employed by Walton Insurance Agency, she worked there for 21 years, retiring in 1999. Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oskaloosa. Her greatest delight was her family and she enjoyed many vacations with her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.
Wilma’s family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Leon Kelderman; two grandchildren: Jeff and his wife, Carol Kelderman and Cristin Kelderman, all of Oskaloosa; three great grandchildren: Ethan, Emma and Cade Kelderman; a brother-in-law, Werner Schwitzer of Minnetonka, MN; a niece, Pamela Perkins of Hedrick; and two nephews, Ronald Anderson of Sigourney and Dr. Kent Schwitzer of Minnetonka, MN.
Besides her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Bud in 1982; a brother, Leo Anderson and a sister, Helen Schwitzer.
