Lacey Recreation Complex Draws Crowd

If attendance at the complex is any indication of how supportive the Mahaska community is in youth sports consider us interested. There is more energy and excitement than ever at the complex these days! Just today for instance you could see the youth soccer practice on the soccer fields, youth football practice, William Penn practice soccer and softball, ASA practice softball, High School practice football, and even the William Penn band is practicing at the complex. If you look around each day you can see an assortment of youth practicing or playing an assortment of games and it is exciting!

At the new stadium, William Penn Varsity Football scored a victory over Bethel on Saturday in a 56-0 shut out. Their JV team won 28 to 26 against Central JV on Labor Day Monday. There are many planned games in all areas in the coming weeks. High School Football will play against Centerville on Friday September 9th at the new stadium. The ninth grade game will start at 5:00 p.m. with the varsity game following. “I commend the community for joining in and the workers behind the scenes for all the support. I cannot explain the feel good community spirit enough, one has to come out and enjoy a game to completely understand, so join us at the complex anytime.” stated Sherry Vavra of MCRF For more information or ongoing schedules you can check the Team Mahaska website under recreation or call the office at 641-672-2499.
