Eddyville, Iowa – A two vehicle accident left two grain wagons overturned in the middle of Highway 63 nearly six miles East of Eddyville Wednesday morning around 10:35 am.

A 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Shanna Jones of Ottumwa was traveling West on Highway 63 nearing the intersection with 200th Ave when, after cresting a small hill, Jones swerved to miss the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven Ronald Guiter also of Ottumwa.

Jones Pontiac struck the Chevrolet of Guiter in the rear drivers side of the truck when attempting to avoid a read end collision. The impact caused the wagons to overturn onto the highway. Guiter’s vehicle had been traveling around 30 mph and was marked with slow moving signs.

Damage estimates to the Pontiac are $4,500.00 and the Chevrolet is estimated to be $12,500.00.

Jones was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Operation without Registration. Both drivers were uninjured in the accident.
