GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, as well as four individual Pioneers, have earned Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

Grinnell’s women, who had a combined grade point average of 3.40, were one of 92 teams in NCAA Division III to earn the honor. The Pioneer men, who had a 3.36 GPA, were one of 55 men’s teams to earn the accolade.

Individually, Kelly Bruce ’12 and Imelda Wistey were named Scholar All-Americans while Cyrus Mistry ’11 and Hannah LaFollette ’11 were honorable mention.

Bruce, an honorable mention selection in 2009 and 2010, and Wistey are the first Scholar All-American selections for Grinnell since the 2005 season.

Bruce, who was named the Midwest Conference Diver of the Year in 2011 for the third time in as many attempts, collected All-America honors in one-meter diving at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. She finished 14th in the event to become Grinnell’s first All-America diver since 2005.

She also competed in three-meter diving at nationals and holds school records in both events with scores of 483.85 at one-meter and 498.75 in three-meter.

Wistey, the 2011 MWC Swimmer of the Year, earned All-America honors in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes. She set school records in five individual events.

Mistry, who was also a Scholar All-America honorable mention selection in 2008, 2009 and 2010, recently wrapped up a successful Pioneer career. He set a school record in the 200 breaststroke during the 2011 campaign with a time of 2:05.83 while earning an NCAA provisional mark in the same event. He also swam on the record-setting 200 and 400 medley relay squads.

LaFollette was an NCAA provisional qualifier in both one- and three-meter diving in 2011 with scores of 452.75 and 415.25, respectively. She was second at the MWC meet
