GRINNELL’S PEREZ, GLUMOV NAMED TO ITA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA TENNIS TEAM

Grinnell College Athletics

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Juan Carlos Perez ’11 and Dmitriy Glumov ’11 have been named Academic All-America by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

To earn the honor, a player must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, be a varsity letter winner and be enrolled at his present school for at least two semesters.

Perez, who owns every Grinnell singles and doubles record, finished the 2011 season with a 35-3 singles mark and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships. One of just a handful of players ever to win 200-plus combined singles, Perez was an All-American in 2010 and is the only male in Midwest Conference history to win the maximum 12 league titles (four in singles, four in doubles and four team).

Glumov, who finished with three career MWC titles (two in doubles and one in singles), is tied for the school record for doubles victories in a season with 31. He ranks fifth in career doubles wins with 70.

Glumov and Perez guided Grinnell to its eighth MWC team title in a row.
