Young Oskaloosa Resident Demonstrates The Spirit Of Caring

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Young Alivia Phillips has been measuring her hair for over a year and preparing for the day when she could donate her own hair to Locks of Love for a little girl that has cancer.

I asked Alivia why she wanted her hair cut, and she informed me “Because I wanted to give it to Locks of Love.” Alivia explained to me why she wanted to do this, “So she can have a wig.”

Mom [Crystal Phillips] was very proud of her daughter as she sat there, getting trimmed up after the donation. She will now have a new hair style to start Kindergarten this fall.

Vanessa Lourens of Envy Hair Studio did the honors for Alivia, who smiled big, not only for her new hair do, but also the thought of what she had just accomplished. Alivia thinks this was fun to do, and wants to do it again. Lastly, I asked Alivia if other little girls should do this as well. “Yes,” was her reply.

According to the Locks of Love website, the program is a public non-profit organization that helps provide hair pieces for disadvantaged children under the age of 21 that live in the US or Canada that are suffering from long term hair loss due to illness.
