Newest Harry Potter Film Opens To A Sold Out Crowd

These Harry Potter fans started early to enjoy the whole experience of the final Potter film.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Penn Centre Theater in Oskaloosa was full Friday morning as nearly 300 people packed the large theater.

Fans started lining up to watch the film at 10:30 am. They came prepared with drinks, and a canopy to keep the sun off of them during the hottest part of the day.

Inside, the smell of popcorn and the sound of chatter filled the auditorium. At nearly 15 minutes before showtime, the crowds were still running back and forth for that one quick stop to the restroom and to load up on more snacks. About that time, a local fan broke out into a mini Harry Potter speech with yet another answering him from near the rear of the theater, adding to the festive mood of the crowd.

Than Mott, owner of Penn Centre Theater, said “In 4 days I’ll have been running theatres for 11 years. In that time there has always been a Harry Potter film to build up and play. As I build up part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I realized this is the last time I’ll build up a Harry Potter movie. For some reason it makes me very sad.”

Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Pt 2-PG-13 and plays nightly at 7:00 p.m. and again at 10:00 p.m. Matinee showing is at 2:00 p.m.
