Penn Central Mall Access Construction Activity

The City will start construction activity as a part of the traffic flow improvements to the Mall. The construction activity is scheduled to begin July 1st, 2011 and is expected to continue for 3-4 weeks depending on the weather conditions. Stevens Concrete Limited is the contractor for this construction project and can they be reached at (641) 673-4255 during the project. This construction activity will restrict the access to the City parking lot east of Hardees allowing access to this lot only from the alleys. The outer east bound traffic lane on A Avenue West will be closed for 500’ to 700’ near the proposed entrance (east of Hardees) on A Avenue West opposite North A Street. This construction activity will deny access to the parking lot from the existing entrance on High Avenue West. Weather permitting, traffic restrictions will be start July 5, 2011. It is anticipated that the new Mall entrance and the parking lot are scheduled to open in August 2011.

Motorists are to take note of this construction and to be prepared for construction zones and high traffic during this time period. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through all construction areas.
