Obituary:
Janet Kay Howell was born on August 25, 1956 in Fairfax, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd “Shorty” Howell and Patricia (Smith) Howell.
She grew up in Missouri and Nebraska until age 8 when she moved with her family to the Pleasantville area where she graduated with the Indianola High School class of 1974. Janet worked as a nurse’s aid for a few years and for the last 27 years has been an accounting specialist for CDS.
Gardening, spending time with friends and family and her pets were special to her. Janet also loved being an aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Janet passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 6 days.
She was preceded in death by her father, Shorty Howell; brother, David Howell and her sister, Penny Howell.
Survivors include her mother, Patricia; siblings, Vera Howell and Rick Howell all of Indianola; her best friend, Arlene Phillips of Pleasantville, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
