Boswell Applauds Principal Financial for Receiving DoD Award for Supporting Military Employees

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Leonard Boswell congratulated Principal Financial Group for receiving the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The Freedom Award is the Department’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

“Iowa should be proud to have an employer that values service and honors sacrifice for your country as much as Principal Financial Group,” said Boswell, a 20-year veteran who served in the Vietnam War. “There is so much uncertainty when a soldier leaves for war, and I appreciate Principal’s commitment to their military employees and families by giving them the peace-of-mind that they will have a job when they return home.”

Principal Financial Group is one of only 15 winners selected from 4,049 nominations received earlier this year from Guard and Reserve service members or their families.
