Central places 21 on spring academic list

Central College

PELLA—Central College has 21 student-athletes on the spring sports academic all-Iowa Conference team.

Softball all-American and CoSIDA Capital One academic all-district honoree Katie Tenboer (first baseman, sr., Morrison, Ill.) is among the Dutch standouts that also excel academically. Also cited were track and field all-Americans Jill Ziskovsky (sr., Dallas Center, Dallas Center-Grimes HS), Emily Teas (sr., Indianola) and Rachel Purdy (so., Ankeny). All three athletes are members of the record-breaking 4×400-meter relay squad that captured second place at the NCAA Division III championships.
To qualify for the honor a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average (4.0 scale).

Central had 41 student-athletes on the fall sports squad and seven in the winter for 69 honorees overall. Last year the Dutch had 11 student-athletes on the spring academic team.
