Central cracks men’s golf rankings

PELLA—The Central College men’s golf team is No. 23 in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Division III coaches’ poll.
The Dutch made their 30th appearance at the NCAA championships May 10-11 at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, N.C. Central shaved 14 strokes off its first-round score to jump from 32nd to 23rd, 10 shots away from the top 15 and a berth in the final two rounds.
Central captured its 29th Iowa Conference title to earn an automatic-bid into the national tournament. Senior Jason Harvey (Goldfield, Clarion-Goldfield HS) earned medalist honors while first-year coach Chad Green was tabbed the league’s coach of the year.
