Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday morning, May 06, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating.
Interment: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Lois LaRue Briney, daughter of Jessie and Rena Pearl Beaman Long, was born January 23, 1919 in Kirkville, IA. She was a 1938 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. In October 1941 she married Maurice Edwin Briney in Lancaster, MO. The first several years of their marriage they lived in Alaska, where Maurice was stationed with the Army. They returned to Oskaloosa where Lois worked 15 years at the Continental Overall Factory and then in housekeeping at the Mahaska Hospital; she retired in 1981. Lois enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting.
She is survived by her son, Robert Briney of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Elizabeth Witt of Turlock, CA; five grandchildren: Kenneth & David Briney; and Scott, Rick & Tammy Langstraat; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Halliburton and a brother, Homer (Helen) Long, all of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice on Oct. 1, 1974; and one grandson, Michael Langstraat.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mahaska Hospice Serenity House.
