Christner Reaches 400 Wins

William Penn Women's Athletics

Oskaloosa–Head Coach Mike Christner has led the William Penn softball team to unprecedented success in his tenure, and over the weekend that success landed him in an exclusive club.

Courtesy of Sunday’s 7-2 victory over Ashford in the Midwest Collegiate Conference First Round Pod Tournament, Christner is now a 400-game winner, owning a career mark of 400-183 (.686) as the Lady Statesmen skipper.

The squad will have a chance to add to Christner’s total this weekend as William Penn takes on Grand View, Iowa Wesleyan, and Clarke in the MCC Tournament Final Four.

The program’s most successful head man, Christner took over the program in 2002. Since then, his teams have won five MCC regular season titles (2002, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011), two MCC Tournament crowns (2003, 2007), two NAIA Region VII championships (2005, 2007), and have appeared in two NAIA National Tournaments (2005, 2007).
