‘DON’T TEST THE WATERS’ COMMUNITY MEETINGS SCHEDULED IN MAY, JUNE

Ottumwa Will Host First of Four Meetings to Discuss Flood Prevention, Protection and Maps

(DES MOINES) – The public is encouraged to attend a new series of community meetings addressing how Iowans and their communities can undertake flood preparation, prevention and protection efforts. The four forums will be held across the state, beginning with Ottumwa on May 5.

The “Don’t Test the Waters” community meetings will be presented by the Iowa Flood Awareness Interagency Coalition as part of a two-year federally-funded flood awareness and mitigation program.

The Ottumwa “Don’t Test The Waters” community meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., May 5, at Indian Hills Community College, Bennett Student Services Center, Room 100. Three additional meetings are scheduled in Council Bluffs on May 26; Des Moines on June 8; and Cedar Rapids on June 15. Invitations and news releases will be sent out prior to each event. The public is invited to all four forums.
