Trio Collect Academic Honors
Oskaloosa–Three Lady Statesmen cagers were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2010-2011 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes.
Christa Subbert (Sr., Stanton, Stanton HS) headlined the group with a 3.72 Grade Point Average in physical education, while Carleigh Hobson (Sr., Lancaster, Calif., Antelope Valley CC) was next with a 3.68 GPA in criminal justice/psychology.
Samantha Darley (Sr., Gilbert, Ariz., Mesa CC) joined the trio with a 3.57 GPA in biology.
The accolade is Subbert’s second, while Hobson and Darley are both first-time recipients.
The NAIA announced that 219 Division II women’s basketball players were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
