Kassie Miller and Ben Wilson make a musical stop at Smokey Row

Up and coming “Country Soul” recording artist Kassie Miller and her husband Ben Wilson formerly of Oskaloosa made an appearance Wednesday night at Smokey Row in Oskaloosa.

Kassie Miller is no stranger to the spotlight, having been a contestant on “The Search for the Ultimate Coyote” . During that 4 week show she danced, sang and tended bar, outdoing her competitors to walk away with the Season 1 title in hand. “We auditioned and traveled all over, and then we had the finale, we lived in New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina. We cleaned up there, and it was really humbling, (and) cool experience to get to be there and be a part it.” Kassie said of her time on the show.

In 2009, Kassie once again was able to showcase her talents on national TV by singing her way into the top 10 of the “Can You Duet?” on CMT. Her and her duet partner Memarie sang their way to 7th place. “It was a really cool experience, obviously I’m not a duo, I’m a soloist.” Kassie said of her experience on the show.

This is a home show of sorts, as Kassie’s husband Ben is from Oskaloosa, and his entire family still lives and calls Oskaloosa Home. Wilson, who produces his wife’s albums and is also a talented guitar player and back-up vocalist in what appears to be an outstanding husband and wife team.

The couple made the home stop on their most recent mini-tour. The previous night they had played in Minneapolis, and after departing Oskaloosa, they are working their way on to Cedar Rapids for Thursday evening and Chicago on Friday and Saturday.
