GRINNELL’S LENTSCH AND ARSENEAULT RECEIVE MIDWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL HONORS

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Griffin Lentsch ‘13 (left) has been named to the All-Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Team and David Arseneault (right) has been named MWC Men’s Coach of the Year.

Lentsch, from Forest Lake, Minn., was a second-team selection. He ranks second in the nation in 3-pointers per game at 3.9, and was second in the MWC in scoring with 18.3 points per game. He shot 37.2 percent from 3-point range, hitting 98-of-283 long-range shots, and was 81.8 percent from the free throw line by making 45-of-55 shots.

Arseneault was named MWC Coach of the Year for the fifth time, also earning the honor in 1994, 1996, 2001 and 2009. The Pioneers started league play with a 3-6 record before finishing their MWC slate with nine consecutive wins to finish 12-6 and tie for second place. They advanced to the championship game of the league tourney for the second time in three years and finished 18-7 overall.

Grinnell currently leads the nation in four categories – scoring (102.9 points per game), 3-pointers per game (17.8), steals per game (14.7) and turnover margin (14.0).

The MWC Men’s Player of the Year is Scott Gillespie of Ripon College, while the Women’s Player of the Year is Lyndsey Seewald of Carroll University. Connie Tilley of St. Norbert College was named Women’s Coach of the Year.
