Boswell Announces 29th Annual Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Boswell invited students from Iowa’s 3rd District to participate in the 29th annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 8.

“Each year, this competition provides a way for young artists to receive statewide and national recognition for their talents,” Boswell said. “I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to see the creativity and ingenuity of Iowa’s students on display.”

The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 16, at a reception at the FFA Enrichment Center on the Des Moines Area Community College Campus in Ankeny, where all entries will be on public display. The 3rd District contest winner will have their artwork displayed in an 11-month exhibit at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Winners will have the opportunity to attend an award ceremony in Washington. Artwork selected for the Honorable Mention award will be displayed in Boswell’s Congressional Offices.

Entries should be delivered or mailed to Boswell’s District Office, 300 East Locust Street, Suite 320, Des Moines, IA, no later than 4:30 p.m. on April 8.  If necessary, participants can contact the District Office at 515-282-1909 or toll-free at 1-888-432-1984 to coordinate an artwork pick-up from their school.
