March arrives like a lamb?

The old saying of “In Like a Lion out Like a Lamb” will be tested this year. March started off by being a much needed break from the continued onslaught that  ‘Old Man Winter’ has been dishing out to Mahaska County and her residents. According to the Osky News thermometer it hit 46 degrees today in Oskaloosa, enough to add to the spring fever that is starting to actually beat out the flu fever for once.

Knowing it was to get near 50 degree’s today, I wanted to catch ‘Mother Nature’ reminding the old guy who was boss today. For nearly 2 hours in the early afternoon, my camera took a picture once every 30 seconds, giving a glimpse of melting snow, and the clouds rushing by.

For the next week, it appears to be a battle over Iowa between warm and cold air, with a few chances of precipitation during the week at this point. Thursday is a high of 44, but also a 50% chance of freezing rain, and Friday starts a trend of precipitation that looks like snow coming once again on Saturday.

I hope everyone enjoyed the warm sunny day like I did, and even with some Winter type weather back in the forecast, it makes it easier knowing these nice days will be more plentiful in the not so distant future.
