Statesmen Drop Season Finale to Yellowjackets

Lamoni–The William Penn women’s soccer team wrapped up its 2026 campaign by falling 4-1 to Graceland in Heart of America Athletic Conference play Saturday.

WPU (6-10-2, 3-9-2 Heart) was unfortunately on its heels for much of the evening, being outshot 25-9.

Graceland (13-3-1, 11-2-1 Heart) scored in the fifth minute, but the navy and gold were able to keep the Yellowjackets out of the goal for the remainder of the first half.

Sian Bah (Sr., London, England, Political Science) then finally got William Penn on the scoreboard, putting the equalizer away unassisted at the 56:41 mark. The goal is the senior’s team-leading 10th of the fall.

GU answered less than two minutes later and controlled the remainder of the matchup as it tacked on two additional goals.

Amerie Osorio (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev., Undecided) topped the offensive effort with three shots, while Bah managed two attempts.

Savannah Putman (Grad., Layton, Utah, Master’s of Sports Management) was busy for all 90 minutes as she tallied seven saves.

“This was a tough end to the match and our season,” Head Coach Kaleb Preston said. “We fought for around 70 minutes, and had earned the right to be fighting for a point. We were just a bit sloppy building out and clearing the ball from a corner, and that made the result look a bit worse than it felt for the majority of the match.”

“I would also like to give a special thank you to those who put on the William Penn kit for the last time tonight,” Preston added.
