Dutch men rally for road draw against Duhawks

DUBUQUE – Overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the second half, the Central College men’s soccer team secured a 2-2 draw at Loras College Saturday night.

In the 49th minute, Loras (11-3-1, 4-1-1 American Rivers Conference) scored to go in front 2-0. Central’s (5-6-3, 1-3-2 conference) comeback took the first step with a Nick DeVoss (sophomore, Lee’s Summit, Mo., St. Michael HS) goal in the 59th minute. A corner kick from Cooper Collins (junior, Clive, Waukee HS) found the head of Max Lauman (junior, Pella) in the box who flicked to DeVoss for the goal.

Nate Lampe (junior, Newton) buried an equalizer in the 75th minute, taking assists from both Owen Stahl (junior, Batavia, Ill.) and Collins.

Dutch goalkeeper Morgan Finkenbinder (junior, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS) made eight saves, including two in the final 10 minutes of a tied match.

The Dutch close out the regular season against Simpson College at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Central would clinch a spot in the league tournament with a win and remain alive with a tie.
