Four more goals for Central women’s soccer team
MADISON, WIS. – It was another big offensive output for the Central College women’s soccer team in a 4-0 road win at Edgewood University (Wis.) Wednesday night.
Central (3-1-0) also recorded its third shutout of the season and goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore (senior, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) registered her 18th career shutout, matching the program record.
Lucy Tiedeman (junior, Kirksville, Mo.) scored unassisted in the 37th minute to start the scoring. Sami Anderson (sophomore, Urbandale, Des Moines Christian HS) gave the Dutch a 2-0 lead right before halftime. Lila Gwyn (freshman, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sycamore HS) assisted Anderson on her fourth goal of the season.
Piper Eighmy (senior, Birmingham, Ala., Briarwood Christian HS) scored her first goal of the season in the 61st minute off an assist from Rylee Rustad (senior, Gilbert, Ariz., Casteel HS). Olivia DeVos (junior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) completed the scoring with Kelley Duffy (senior, Breckenridge, Colo., Summit HS) assisting.
“It was another comprehensive effort by our team with balanced scoring and a shutout,” coach Mike Kobylinski said.
Through four matches, Central has scored 17 goals and yielded only three.
“It’s a good spot to be in,” Kobylinski said. “Kudos to our women, leaders and our staff for preparing them.”
Central hosts Hamline University (Minn.) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
