NO. 11 WARRIORS OUTLAST NO. 14 GOLDEN EAGLES

Cheyenne, WY – No. 11 Indian Hills Women’s Soccer extended its unbeaten streak to six matches to start the year as the Warriors ran past No. 14 nationally ranked Laramie County Community College (WY) 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors move to 4-0-2 on the year.
Indian Hills collected its third result vs. a nationally ranked opponent this year, and second victory as the Warriors closed out their three-match, five-day swing in the Cowboy State. Through six matches to open the new year, Indian Hills has held each opponent to one goal or less on the year, the longest stretch for the program to open a year since the 2021 squad held its first seven opponents to a goal or less.
The two sides battled through a scoreless 44 minutes before freshman Kieara Trujillo-Garcia (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Ranch) found the back of the net with 37 seconds remaining in the opening frame. Trujillo-Garcia received a lengthy pass from the Warriors’ defensive end from sophomore Jenevieve Kuriki (Pleasant Hill, IA/Southeast Polk) who in turn outran the Golden Eagles’ backline to beat the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
Laramie County countered to open the second half with a score in the 48th minute to even the match at 1-1. Indian Hills responded just over three minutes later as freshman Pamela Martin (Maracay, Venezuela/Dawere International) netted her third goal of the season at the 51:10 mark.
The Indian Hills defense held the Golden Eagles scoreless 38:50 to preserve its second win over a team from the state of Wyoming over the last three days.
Trujillo-Garcia has now tallied six goals in the team’s last five games and leads the Warriors with 12 points on the season. Martin has now contributed a point in all six contests this season and ranks second on the team with 11 points. The duo rank first and second, respectively in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) in total points on the year.
Sophomore keeper Annabelle Combes (Marseille, France/Tezenas du Montcel) stopped six shots in the win for the Warriors. Combes now boasts 16 career wins, tied for third-most in program history.
Indian Hills returns to action Friday, September 11 with a neutral-site matchup vs. Wallace State Community College (AL) at 3:00 PM in Belleville, IL.
