Statesmen of the Week: Wyatt Kresser and Emily Sjoberg

Oskaloosa–Men’s shotgun sports athlete Wyatt Kresser (Sr., Independence, Iowa, Entrepreneurship and Business Management) and women’s shotgun sports athlete Emily Sjoberg (Jr., Citrus Heights, Calif., Undecided) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of August 24-30.

Kresser won the High Overall Athlete award at the Fort Hays State Invitational last Saturday and Sunday with a score of 424-for-450, winning the crown by two shots. He contributed to the team score in all five disciplines, including a 98-for-100 in Trap, a 95-for-100 in Doubles Trap, a 93-for-100 in Sporting Clays, a 91-for-100 in Super Sporting, and a 47-for-50 in Doubles Skeet. Kresser’s efforts helped the Statesmen finish third in the season opener.

Sjoberg also had a big hand in the high placing for William Penn as she won the Female HOA award at 415-for-450. She was 11th overall, headlined by taking the Sporting Clays crown at 98-for-100. She also put up scores of 93-for-100 in Trap, 92-for-100 in Super Sporting, 88-for-100 in Doubles Trap, and 44-for-50 in Doubles Skeet.
