NO. 15 WARRIORS SWEEP BEARS IN HOME OPENER

Ottumwa, IA – The No. 15 nationally ranked Indian Hills Volleyball squad rolled to a 3-0 sweep in its home opener vs. Des Moines Area Community College at the Hellyer Center on Monday night. The Warriors move to 3-2 overall on the year with the win.
Indian Hills dropped the Bears for the 10th time in the last 11 meetings after taking the matchup in straight sets, 25-21, 25-15, and 25-22. The Warriors have now won six consecutive home openers dating back to the 2021 campaign.
11 different Warriors saw action on their home court Monday night while sophomore Amelia Polojanska (Gizycko, Poland/X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Mistrzostwa Sportowego) led the charge. The outside hitter racked up eight kills on 16 attempts for a .375 hitting percentage to go along with a career-high five service aces, including three in the final set alone.
Freshman outside hitter Alisha Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/IMG Academy) powered the Warriors with a team-high nine klils on 22 attempts while fellow freshman Jovi Evans (Kalona, IA/Mid-Prairie) added eight finishers for the Warriors.
Freshman Sofia Silveira tallied a team-high 20 assists while sophomore Ana Silva (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil/Major Aviador José Mariotto) chipped in 14 helps.
Kanade Yamgishi (Osaka, Japan/Kochi Chuo) controlled the defense for the Warriors with 14 digs, the freshman’s fifth consecutive match with double-digit digs.
Indian Hills controlled the tempo of Monday night’s matchup with the Bears, cruising through the first two sets before taking a commanding 10-0 lead in the finale frame. Polojanska starred for the Warriors in the third set, serving on 10 consecutive points to open the finale. Indian Hills staved off a late surge from the Bears to complete its third sweep over the Bears in the last four meetings.
The Warriors now return to the road with a trip to Brenham, TX for the Kruse Kickoff Classic hosted by Blinn College (TX). Indian Hills opens its four-match trip against No. 12 nationally ranked Blinn at 11:00 AM followed by a 3:00 PM date with McLennan Community College (TX).
