Mailloux’s Big Game Nets POW Award

Oskaloosa–Shane Mailloux (So., Santee, Calif., Business Management) put on a hitting clinic last week, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week Monday, presented by BoxOut Sports.

Mailloux collected the first laurel of his career after leading WPU to a trio of wins last week.

The sophomore had a strong start to the week, going 2-for-3 with three walks and three runs against Hannibal-LaGrange last Tuesday.

He then fully locked in versus Siena Heights last Friday. In the series opener, Mailloux was 4-for-5 at the plate with a grand slam and a double. Overall, he drove in seven runs and scored three times himself.

Over the final three contests of the week, Mailloux added two hits (one home run), three RBIs, three runs, three walks, and three hit-by-pitches to an already-extraordinary portfolio.

By week’s end, he hit .533 (8-for-15) with two home runs, 10 RBIs, and nine runs scored. His slugging percentage was a gaudy 1.067, while his on-base mark of .708 included six walks and three hit-by-pitches.

For the season, Mailloux owns a .488 batting average (20-for-41) with three home runs, 15 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. He has a .780 slugging percentage and a .650 on-base clip that includes 10 walks and nine hit-by-pitches.

Additionally, he has provided more than competent defense, committing just one error in 106 fielding chances (.991 fielding percentage).

The award is the first for WPU this season.
