Hynick Earns POW Laurel

Oskaloosa–Emma Hynick (Sr., Monticello, Iowa, Human Services and Sociology) was a big part of two strong scores last week, and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Cheerleader of the Week Monday.

Hynick claimed her first weekly award after leading William Penn at the St. Ambrose Fighting Bee Classic last Sunday.

The senior guided WPU to an opening-round score of 81.65 points, good enough for third place. William Penn then grabbed another bronze in the second competition at 86.95.

Hynick has been a great leader on the team and picked up an additional pass in last week’s competitions. The senior, who came to WPU on a volleyball scholarship, has essentially volunteered her time to be a cheerleader.

The honor is the second for WPU this year.
