Statesmen Win Again in Heart Dual
Fulton, Mo.– The No. 3 ranked William Penn women’s wrestling cruised to a 32-5 victory over William Woods, dropping only one weight class in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Tuesday.
While the dual officially started at 103-pounds, the first action the match-up saw was in the 131-pound division. Both teams received forfeit victories, while two other divisions had no contests, Teya Garner (Jr., San Antonio, Texas, Exercise Science) at 110-pounds received the forfeit for WPU (7-2, 4-0 Heart) and William Woods (1-5, 0-1 Heart) received the other at 117-pounds.
The rest of the way William Penn did not have a match go the distance, as every weight class from here ended in pinfall or technical fall.
131-pounder Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) won by technical fall pushing the score to 9-5 in WPU’s favor.
William Penn opened the dual with three straight pinfalls, as 138-pounder Espie Almazan (So., Council Bluffs, Iowa, Political Science), 145-pounder Maeley Elsbury (So., Chelsea, Iowa, Undecided), and 160-pounder Kylee Eastwood (Sr., Fontana, Kan., Undecided) pushed the Statesmen ahead 24–5.
