Statesmen Drop Heart Dual to William Woods

Fulton, Mo.– The William Penn men’s wrestling team fell to William Woods 36-17 in Heart action Tuesday.

WPU (1-8, 0-8 Heart) won three matches (three by bonus points), but failed to claim the victory.

At 125 pounds, Gentry Walston (So., New Sharon, Iowa, Human Resources) put the Statesmen on the board with a 3:22 pinfall over Emanuel Trotter, giving William Penn a 6–0 lead.

The Owls followed with three wins in a row, pushing the score to 13–6 in their favor.

157-pounder Trent Evans (Jr., Houston, Texas, Mechanical Engineering) trimmed the William Woods lead with a 19–3 technical fall over Whit Nichols, narrowing the score to 13–11.

The momentum went back to WWU with wins in the next four matchups.

Skyler Young (So., Eddyville, Iowa, Physical Education) closed the night on a positive note with a first-period pinfall over Ian Nelson at 285 pounds.
