Statesmen Returns to Third in Fifth Ratings

Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s wrestling team is climbing back up the rankings as the NAIA released its fifth set of polls this week.

WPU ties a program best at No. 3 with 179 points, while Life (Ga.) is first with 224 points. Grand View is just ahead of the Statesmen with 191 points, while Providence (Mont.) (177) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (145) close out the top five.

117-pounder Christianah Ogunsanya (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) and 145-pounder Esther Kolawole (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) are again first in the NAIA at their respective weights.

The navy and gold hold two of the top three spots at 117 as Mia Palumbo (Grad., Oak Lawn, Ill., Master’s of Sports Management) is No. 3, while 124-pounder Victoria Baez Dilone (Grad., Madrid, Spain, Master’s of Sports Management) and 131-pounder Devin Patton (Sr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) are both No. 4.

Fellow 131-pounder Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) sits at No. 6, while 138-pounder Isabelle Hawley (Sr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology), at No. 8, is also in an All-America position. 160-pounder Piper Fowler (Fr., Cleveland, Tenn., Psychology) and 207-pounder Phoebe Burt (Sr., Coralville, Iowa, Sociology) hold top-10 spots as well as both are No. 9.

110-pounder Avy Perez (Fr., Mission Hills, Calif., Nursing) is No. 11, while 180-pounder Diara Pomares (Fr., Hemet, Calif., Fine Arts) (No. 14) and 124-pounder Tatiana Paragas (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Exercise Science) (No. 15) are rated as well.

William Penn continues to be second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, now with 200 points. Grand View is again the league leader with 208 points.

Ogunsanya, Baez Dilone, and Kolawole all lead their weights, while Palumbo, Patton, Hawley, and Burt are second. Perez, Bostelman, and Fowler are each third, while Paragas and Pomares are sixth.
