Statesmen Ranked Fourth Entering Holiday Break

Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s wrestling team slipped a pair of positions as the NAIA released its third set of polls this week.

The navy and gold are now fourth in the nation with 156 points.

Life (Ga.) continues to be first in the NAIA, now with 203 points. Providence (Mont.) jumps into the No. 2 spot with 190 points, while Grand View is third (184). Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) are tied for fifth with 137 points.

Christianah Ogunsanya (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) Esther Kolawole (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) top WPU at No. 1 at 117 and 145 pounds, respectively.

Victoria Baez Dilone (Grad., Madrid, Spain, Master’s of Sports Management) experienced the biggest jump, moving to No. 2 at 124 pounds, while 131 pounders Devin Patton (Sr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) and Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) are third and fourth, respectively, in their weight class.

110-pounder Avy Perez (Fr., Mission Hills, Calif., Nursing) is seventh, while Phoebe Burt (Sr., Coralville, Iowa, Sociology) also holds an All-America podium rating of No. 8 at 207 pounds.

138-pounder Isabelle Hawley (Sr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) comes is at No. 9, while 207-pounder Diara Pomares (Fr., Hemet, Calif., Fine Arts) is No. 12 and 124-pounder Tatiana Paragas (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Exercise Science) is No. 17.

The Statesmen remain in the runner-up spot in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with 194 points, while Grand View is first with 209 points.

The quartet of Ogunsanya, Baez Dilone, Kolawole, and Burt headline the squad’s efforts in the league ratings as they are all first in their weight classes.

Patton and Hawley are second, while Perez and Bostelman are third. 103-pounder Lily Zapata (So., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology) and 145-pounder Naida Abdijanovic (Sr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) are both fifth, as is Pomares. Paragas rounds out the rated Heart wrestlers in sixth.
