Five Ranked in League as Third Set of Polls Released

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s wrestling team picked up one spot in the conference rating as the NAIA released its third set of polls this week.

Nationally, William Penn is tied for 35th with 19 points, while Grand View leads the NAIA with 249 points. Life (Ga.) (232), Indiana Tech (215), Southeastern (Fla.) (214), and Southern Oregon (186) finish off the top five.

133-pounder Lane Scorpil (Sr., Columbus Junction, Iowa, Business Management) leads the navy and gold at No. 14, while 157-pounder Ashton Hayhurst (Jr., Evansville, Ind., Sociology) is also ranked, sitting at No. 21.

WPU is now seventh in the Heart of America Athletic Conference rating with 53 points; GVU is at the top with 223 points.

Hayhurst’s ranking of third is the best for the Statesmen. Scorpil is next in fifth, while 125-pounder Gentry Walston (So., New Sharon, Iowa, Human Resource Management) is sixth.

184-pounder LaDainian Gordon (Jr., Centennial, Colo., Nursing) is seventh, and 149-pounder Brody Brisker (Fr., Wilton, Iowa, Sports Management) rounds out the list in eighth.
