Statesmen of the Week: Foday Sheriff and Ashley Gorman

Oskaloosa–Men’s basketball player Foday Sheriff (Sr., Upper Darby, Pa., Business Management) and women’s bowler Ashley Gorman (So., Stillwater, Minn., Exercise Science) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 3-9.

Sheriff had two nearly identical performances last week en route to averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. In Thursday’s 93-65 win over Hannibal-LaGrange, the senior had 17 points and eight rebounds, while in Friday’s 113-73 triumph over Kansas Christian, Sheriff managed 18 points and seven boards.

He shot 52.2% from the floor and 91.7% from the free-throw line, while also adding in three steals and two assists.

Gorman finished eighth in the qualifying portion of the ISYL Leatherneck Classic last Saturday. Over the span of five games, she knocked down 1,019 pins for a 203.8 average. Two of her games were in the 200s with a high of 245. Her efforts helped the Statesmen place sixth overall and earn a spot in the match play competition.
