WPU Improves to No. 3 in First Poll

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s wrestling team matched a program-best ranking as the NAIA released its first set of polls this week.

William Penn is third nationally with 161 points, while Life (Ga.) holds the top spot with 189 points and Grand View is second with 172 points. Providence (Mont.) (156) and Indiana Tech (128) are fourth and fifth, respectively. The No. 3 rating ties the highest position ever in school history; WPU was also third twice during the 2024-2025 campaign.

117-pounder Christianah Ogunsanya (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) and 145-pounder Esther Kolawole (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) are both No. 1 in their weight classes to pace the Statesmen. The maximum number of 12 wrestlers are again ranked for the Statesmen.

110-pounder Avy Perez (Fr., Mission Hills, Calif., Nursing) is next for the Statesmen at No. 3, while Devin Patton (Sr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) and Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) are back-to-back at 131 pounds. Patton is fifth and Bostelman is right behind her in sixth.

138-pounder Isabelle Hawley (Sr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) is also fifth, while 124-pounder Victoria Baez-Dilone (Grad., Madrid, Spain) and 160-pounder Alexa Wolf (So., Rogers, Ark., Exercise Science) are both ninth.

Naida Abdijanovic (Sr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) is No. 13 at 145 pounds, and 103-pounder Lily Zapata (So., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology) is No. 18. William Penn also has a pair of 207-pounders in the poll with Diara Pomares (Fr., Hemet, Calif., Fine Arts) at No. 15 and Phoebe Burt (Sr., Coralville, Iowa, Sociology) at No. 18.

WPU, with 204 points, and Grand View, with a group-best 207 points, are neck-and-neck in the Heart of America Athletic Conference standings. Baker is a distant third with 152 points.

All 12 Statesmen wrestlers are rated in the top four in their weight classes.

Perez, Ogunsanya, and Kolawole all hold top spots, while Patton, Hawley, and Wolf are each in the silver positions.

The quartet of Zapata, Bostelman, Abdijanovic, and Pomares sit third in the conference, and Baez-Dilone and Burt are fourth.
