Oskaloosa Varsity Indians Defeat Newton

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians defeated Newton Cardinal Varsity 10-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to six runs in the sixth inning. Jaden DeRonde tripled, scoring two runs, Maddux Ashman doubled, scoring one run, Linus Morrison tripled, scoring two runs, and Trey Parks singled, scoring one run.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians got on the board in the second inning after Tate Peterson doubled, scoring two runs.

Parks earned the win for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking two. Creighton Andrew took the loss for Newton Cardinal Varsity. The southpaw went three innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out one, and walking one.

The Indians amassed nine hits in the game. Peterson and Ty Edgar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians while hitting back-to-back. Morrison led the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Jake North stole two bases. Oskaloosa Varsity Indians stole four bases in the game. Oskaloosa Varsity Indians were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Morrison had the most chances in the field with six.
