EBF Rockets Clinch SCC Conference Championship with Victory over Clarke

On October 15, the EBF Rockets traveled to Clarke and came away as the undisputed South Central Conference Champions, ending the regular conference season with a 6-0 record and an impressive overall record of 28-2. The Rockets’ solid performance in their final conference match showcased the teamwork and discipline that brought them the title.

Leading the charge, Molly Shafer delivered a standout performance with 17 kills out of 24 attacks, alongside one assist, eight digs, and two blocks. Molly also went a perfect 7-for-7 on serves. Her sister, Kate Shafer, facilitated the offense with an impressive 31 assists, three kills, and added five blocks. Kate’s serving consistency also made a difference, with three aces on 8-of-10 serves.

Lacey Taylor played a pivotal role with seven kills, nine digs, and three blocks, while Kaylee Helm and Kinley Lobberecht contributed vital serving power and defensive support. Helm made nine of ten serves and added six digs, while Lobberecht went 13-for-15 in serving with three aces.

EBF coach praised the team for their dedication to reaching both internal and external season goals. “We traveled to Clarke for our last conference match, clinching the SCC Championship,” she shared. “I am so proud of these girls and how they have maintained their goals for the season. We had our own internal goals for the Clarke match, and I feel we accomplished that.”

The Rockets now turn their focus to the quad tournament in Mediapolis, where they will face second-ranked Holy Trinity. “This tournament is an opportunity to gauge our progress as we head into the postseason,” Coach Genskow remarked. “Taking back the conference championship this season was a huge goal for the girls. I am so proud of their hard work and dedication in making this happen.”
