Bob Current, 86, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2023, at SE Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington, Iowa. Robert William Current, son of Ervy Cleo and Miriam (Harrison) Current, was born August 28, 1937, near Albia in rural Monroe County, Iowa.

When Bob was a young child, his family moved to Oskaloosa, and he graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1955. That same year, Bob joined the Army; he served two years and reenlisted to serve another three years.

On December 30, 1960, Bob married Wilda “Tillie” Martha Ashman.

Following his discharge, Bob worked for Bloom Builders, building pole barns.

They lived in Oskaloosa until 1972 when they moved to Indianola to be closer to Bob’s work with McAninch Corporation as a heavy equipment operator. His last job with McAninch was the Jordan Creek Town Centre project.

In 2002, Bob retired after a 43-year career with McAninch. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed fishing.

Surviving Bob are his nieces, Deborah Adam of New London and Sue (Ron) West of Sheldon, Iowa.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by Tillie on February 26, 2016, and two sisters, Gayle Morgan and Carol Vance.

As was his wish, Bob’s body has been cremated. The burial of his ashes will be in Forest Cemetery.
