Hargrove’s Placing Leads Statesmen at Missouri Valley Invite

Marshall, Mo.–Cameron Hargrove (Jr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Sports Management) won a half dozen matches to pace the William Penn men’s wrestling team at the Missouri Valley Invitational Saturday.

As a team, WPU finished 30th out of 45 squads with 29.5 points, while Grand View won the team title with 192 points.

Hargrove placed fifth at 165 pounds, posting a 6-2 record. The junior won twice by major decision and twice by fall.

Branson Bottorff (Sr., Mackinaw, Ill., Industrial Technology) and Trent Evans (Fr., Houston, Texas, Civil Engineering) both won multiple bouts at the Invitational. Bottorff went 3-2 at 174 pounds with a major decision, while Evans collected a pair of falls at 149 pounds.

184-pounder Kaden Kaiser (So., Urbandale, Iowa, Undecided) pinned one foe and 133-pounder Lane Scorpil (So., Columbus Junction, Iowa, Industrial Technology) won once by technical fall.

Next Up: William Penn returns to Marshall, Mo. next Thursday to face Missouri Valley in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual meet at 7 p.m.
