Finley, Evans Honored as Players of the Month

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the December Player of the Month laurels.

Sophomore men’s track and field athlete Max Finley (Richville, N.Y., Computer Science) earned the Male award, while senior women’s bowler Gabi Evans (West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) claimed the Female honor. The laurel is the third for Evans in her career, while Finley is a first-time honoree.

Finley broke a school record that had stood since 2017, setting a new 3,000-meter run mark with a time of 8:41.94 at the St. Ambrose Finals Week Invitational.

In three tournaments, Evans posted a 193.9 average over 20 games bowled. At the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out, she became the first women’s bowler in school history to roll a perfect 300 game and her efforts helped the Statesmen to the team crown. The senior posted six games in the 200s during the month.
