Statesmen of the Week: Shug Sneed and Adaugo Nwachukwu

Oskaloosa–Men’s basketball player Shug Sneed (Jr., Chicago, Ill., Computer Science) and women’s wrestler Adaugo Nwachukwu (Jr., San Jose, Calif., Exercise Science) have been named Statesmen of the Week for the week of January 1-7, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Sneed scored 17 points in last Saturday’s game against Peru State. He was 8-for-12 from the field and also made a free throw. The junior notched a double-double by pulling down 10 rebounds, while posting one assist and one blocked shot as well.

Nwachukwu owned a 4-0 record last Friday and Saturday at the NWCA National Duals. She opened Friday with a 10-0 technical fall over Migdalys Ramos of Cumberlands (Ky.) before earning a forfeit against Missouri Baptist.

On Saturday, the junior pinned Brianna Membreno of Doane (Neb.) in 31 seconds and shut out Lexie Garza (Eastern Oregon) in a 12-0 technical fall.
